FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHEN IS THE WWK LEAGUE SEASON?

The WWK league season runs annually from January 1 through April 30. Team signups typically open in September and close in early October, giving members time to organize teams and prepare for the upcoming season.

In addition to league play, WWK hosts a yearly tournament each June, bringing members together from across the league for competition, camaraderie, and celebration. We also organize practice meetups and gatherings throughout the year, providing opportunities for members to sharpen their skills, connect with other throwers, and grow within the community.

HOW DO I START MY OWN TEAM?

If you have a group of  interested friends and a place to throw, you can start a team.  Start by sending us a message through our chat or contact form. We will get back to you with information on how to join.

WHAT IS THE COST TO JOIN?

WWK league dues are intended to be very low and we rely heavily on our sponsors to make sure we keep them that way.  WWK would rather our members spend their money on a good set of throwing knives to ensure they’re throwing with good, safe equipment that will help build your confidence with higher scores.  For the 2027 Season, league dues are $60 per member.

WHO CAN JOIN WWK?

WWK welcomes all women ages 18 and older worldwide to join our league. Minors may also participate if their parent or legal guardian is a member of the same team and will be present during all league days and events in which the minor participates.

While we appreciate and respect people of all genders, WWK is a women-only league. Our goal is to provide a supportive, safe, and encouraging environment where women can participate openly, build confidence, and enjoy the sport free from intimidation, pressure, or concerns that can sometimes arise in mixed-gender competitive spaces.

HOW MUCH SPACE IS NEEDED FOR A LEAGUE SETUP?

WWK recommends a space that is at least 10’ wide by 20’ long with at least an 8’ ceiling height.  A larger space is ideal, but this would be a minimum suggestion.

WHERE SHOULD I GO TO BUY GOOD THROWING KNIVES?

WWK highly suggests staying away from production knives.  Most production knives can have sharp edges or break easily and pose a safety risk.  We recommend custom knives made by experienced knife makers who support the knife throwing community.  Please see our list of recommended throwing knives on the “Resources” Tab of our website.

HOW CAN I SUPPORT WWK?

There are many ways to support WWK and help our community continue to grow. We offer sponsorship opportunities for both our annual league season and yearly tournament, with support levels ranging from merchandise donations and small contributions starting around $50 to larger sponsorship packages of $1,000 and beyond. To learn more or become a sponsor, simply click on the “Become a Sponsor” tab and complete the signup form.

Supporters can also help by spreading the word about WWK, following and engaging with our social media pages, attending events, or volunteering during tournaments and meetups. Every form of support, big or small, helps us continue creating opportunities, community, and competitive experiences for women in the sport.

IS WWK JUST FOR WOMEN OR CAN MEN JOIN?

While we appreciate and respect people of all genders, WWK is a women-only league. Our goal is to provide a supportive, safe, and encouraging environment where women can participate openly, build confidence, and enjoy the sport free from intimidation, pressure, or concerns that can sometimes arise in mixed-gender competitive spaces.

Men can reach out to MBT Range in Holland, MI for information on men's throwing  league & events.
